ARE’s R.I.S.E. (Resources, Inclusion, Support and Empowerment) Center celebrates, empowers, educates and elevates and connects queer communities in Winchester and Frederick County. We are dedicated to creating an affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. Our center provides a wide range of programs and services.

Join us for Coffee + Coloring at ARE’s LGBTQ+ Center! Drink a cup of coffee, color a few pictures, get to know each other, and see the space.
ARE’s R.I.S.E. Center Services Include:
Affinity Groups: We offer peer-led and professional support groups for LGBTQ+ individuals, including groups for youth, adults, seniors, and specific identities such as transgender and non-binary people.
Community Events: Join us for social events, cultural celebrations and educational workshops that foster connection, learning and community building.
LGBTQ+ Library: Explore our wide range of books, magazines, and other resources covering LGBTQ+ history, literature, health, activism and more.
Advocacy and Outreach: We work to promote LGBTQ+ rights and includion through advocacy, policy change, and community education.
Training and Education: We offer training for organizations and businesses on LGBTQ+ inclusion, cultural competency, and best practices for supporting LGBTQ+ individuals.
Gender Affirming Closet: We offer a dedicated space where transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming folks can find clothing and accessories tat aign with their gender identity.
Resource Referrals: We connect individuals with local resources, including legal assistance, housing support and healthcare providers knowledgeable about LGBTQ+ Care.
